Penguin Spirit is TOP NOTCH!

Great job Penguins this past Saturday. It was our toughest meet yet and while the points may have fallen short, our PENGUIN SPIRIT was TOP NOTCH!!! Big shout-out and thank you to all our Swim-Ups during Saturday’s meet vs. Twinbrook ~ Luciana C., Abi D., and Antonio R. Thank you to all our parent volunteers - you are all ROCKSTARS and we could not have our swim meets without you!

Congratulations to Izzy M. & Reagan M. for earning qualifying times for the Coaches Invitational Long Course! This meet takes place on Tuesday, July 9th for those swimmers who have the top 8 fastest times for each swim meet event in the entire Montgomery County Swim League. Swimmers will compete at the Rockville Swim & Fitness Center on a 50 meter long course. Poplar Run Penguin Afternoon practice will NOT be held on Tuesday, July 9th due to this meet. So, if you have time on Tuesday, July 9th, come cheer on Izzy and Reagan! Meet starts at 6pm.

PLEASE don’t forget to RSVP in SwimTopia for EVERY meet!
PLEASE be sure to check with a coach &/or a team rep before you leave a meet!!! Every swimmer has the potential to earn points for our team. When a swimmer is marked to attend, but doesn’t show up or leaves before an event, we miss the opportunity for another swimmer to have a chance, and also lose the chance to earn points. If something comes up or you know you have to leave early, please talk to a coach or a team rep so that we might have a chance to adjust the lineup. We’d love for everyone to stay and cheer through the last event. EVERY SWIMMER is important to the team!

We will have regular Morning & Afternoon Practice on MONDAY & TUESDAY this week & morning practice on WEDNESDAY. Our afternoon practice on Wednesday will be our fun Intersquad Meet, starting at 5pm ~ see details below.

We will NOT have swim practice on Thursday, July 4th. Instead, come join us for a Team Fundraising BBQ at the Poplar Run Pool! BBQ starts at 11:30am until we run out of food!

WEDNESDAY’S INTERSQUAD MEET STARTING AT 5PM

For this first ever - Penguin Intersquad Meet, the Penguins have been split up into two opposing waddles, one led by Izzy & Oliver with the other led by Reagan, Myle, and Antonio. Not forgotten, our Little Blues will have three events throughout the meet.

ALL Penguins meet at the Poplar Run Lap Pool, ready to swim at 5pm on Wednesday.
Bring lots of sunscreen, water, swim cap, goggles, and towel.
After the Intersquad Meet, swimmers will be rewarded with PIZZA from the team.
Parents - please bring drinks and other dinner items with you for your family and swimmer. Donations to help cover the pizza cost will be greatly appreciated & collected at the meet.

This Friday’s Fun Practice & Pep Rally ~ THEME is Patriotic USA! In honor of July 4th, show off your patriotic spirit with RED, WHITE, & BLUE!

Friday Fun Practice will be held from 5-6pm, followed by our weekly Pep Rally Potluck, beginning at 6pm on the Pool Deck! Sign up with what you are bringing via SignUp Genius Link!

This upcoming Saturday, we have our last HOME dual meet vs. Middlebridge Marlins.

We are in the process of determining meet event line-ups so PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU RSVP FOR SATURDAY’S MEET via Swimtopia by Wednesday evening - especially if your swimmer will NOT be available for the meet this Saturday!

Details regarding the Saturday Home Dual Meet vs. Middlebridge:

Meet is held at our Poplar Run Lap Pool.
WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS!!! SIGN UP VIA SWIMTOPIA!!!
Swimmers & Parent Volunteers MUST be there by 7:30am so that they are ready to jump in for scheduled warm-up.

We have our 2024 Division O Shirts ready for your order!

This year, the Division shirts are in the theme of 007 spy as we are Division O with 7 teams.

Shirts are $20 each & orders can be placed online via twinbrook-swim-team.square.site. Orders are due by July 14 and will be delivered to the PR Pool during Divisionals, Sat. 7/20.

Division O ~ MUM Food Drive, led by Middlebridge Coach Sebastian

We are collecting donations during the second half of the swim season to be donated to the Mid-County United Ministries (MUM), who will then distribute the nonperishable items, along with fresh produce, to families in need.

Please drop off your donations in the box under the Poplar Run Penguins Bulletin Board when you enter the Clubhouse for Check-In all week during practices, Intersquad Meet, and Pep Rally.
