GREAT JOB AT RELAY CARNIVAL PENGUINS!
Great job Penguins at today’s Relay Carnival! We won 2nd place overall and had 10 relays win their race, earning them a spot at the All Star Relays at the End of July! This week will be a bit easier with our Lollipop Meet on Wednesday and then our next Dual Meet on Saturday, July 5th vs. Upper County. Let’s keep this amazing momentum going Penguins!
Friendly Reminders to Parents:
- PLEASE don’t forget to RSVP in SwimTopia for ALL OF OUR MEETS! If we don’t know that your swimmer is attending, our coaches are unable to put them into our meet entries and they won’t be able to swim during the meets.
- We need PARENTS’ SUPPORT - please encourage your swimmer to put away their phones and cheer on their teammates during meets. We were so proud of all Penguins for their amazing cheering on their teammates! It made this weekend such a success!!!
- Especially given the potential for evening storms coming up, please make every effort for your swimmer to attend morning practice in the weeks to come!!!
This Wednesday is our fun 8 & under Penguin Lollipop Meet. Warm-Ups are at 5:30pm with the Meet starting at 6pm.
For this first ever Penguin Lollipop Meet, all our 8 & under Penguins will have a chance to swim. Our Little Blues will have a chance to swim a 25 Meter Freestyle, 25 Meter Kickboard Race as well as participate in a 2x25M Kickboard Relay. All our 8&U Rockhopper Penguins will get a chance to swim 25 Meters of freestyle and backstroke, as long as they are willing. Our 9 and older Penguins will be assisting with the Lollipop Meet as timers, runners, and assist Little Blues during their races.
- PARENTS - Please confirm your Penguins attendance for the Lollipop Meet via Swimtopia AS SOON AS POSSIBLE, BEFORE MONDAY EVENING!
- ALL Penguins are to be at the Poplar Run Lap Pool, ready to swim no later than 5pm on Wednesday.
- Don’t forget to bring sunscreen, water, swim cap, goggles, and a towel.
We will NOT have FUN FRIDAY practice on Friday, July 4th. Instead, come join us for a Team Fundraising BBQ at the Poplar Run Pool! BBQ starts at 11:00am until we run out of food!
This upcoming Saturday, we have our last HOME dual meet vs. Upper County Dolphins.
Coaches are in the process of determining meet event line-ups so PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU RSVP FOR SATURDAY’S MEET via Swimtopia by Tuesday evening - especially if your swimmer will NOT be available for the meet this Saturday!
Details regarding the Saturday Home Dual Meet vs. Upper County:
- The meet is held at our Poplar Run Lap Pool.
- The Meet’s THEME is Patriotic USA! In honor of July 4th, show off your patriotic spirit with RED, WHITE, & BLUE!
- WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS!!! SIGN UP VIA SWIMTOPIA!!!
- Swimmers & Parent Volunteers MUST be at the lap pool NO LATER THAN 7:30am so that they are ready to jump in for scheduled warm-up.
- More details regarding this meet will be shared later this week.
Important Note to Parents: Please help us share this important message that ALL of our swimmers are integral to the team, regardless of whether they are on the lineups for this weekend. While we do our best to include as many swimmers as possible in meets throughout the season, there will be times where we do not utilize every available swimmer in a meet. Some of our age groups have significantly more swimmers than others, and that can lead to disappointed swimmers. To learn more about the meet lineup process, please check out the Meets Overview from the Handbook or the FAQ.
