July 3rd

Last night was an amazing Little Blues Lollipop Meet! We hope all our Little Blues had fun and thank you to all our older Penguins for helping out! We love seeing our Penguin Community come together like last night!

Movie Night (Take 3) is on for TONIGHT!

We plan to start the Penguin Movie at 7:15pm after the last practice at the Maki House!

Congratulations to Izzy M. & Cata D. for earning qualifying times for the Coaches Invitational Long Course! This meet takes place on Tuesday, July 8th for those swimmers who have the top 8 fastest times for each swim meet event in the entire Montgomery County Swim League. Swimmers will compete at the Rockville Swim & Fitness Center on a 50 meter long course. Poplar Run Penguin Afternoon practice will NOT be held on Tuesday, July 8th due to this meet. So, if you have time on Tuesday, July 8th, come cheer on Izzy and Cata! Meet starts at 6pm.

We will NOT have swim practice TOMORROW Friday, July 4th. Instead, come join us for a Team Fundraising BBQ at the Poplar Run Pool! BBQ starts at 11:00am until we run out of food!

This upcoming Saturday, we have our last HOME dual meet vs. Upper County Dolphins.

Coaches have finished the meet line-up and have published the Meet Entries on SwimTopia. WE ARE IN NEED OF PARENT VOLUNTEERS! PLEASE SIGN UP VIA SWIMTOPIA TO HELP US OUT DURING THIS LAST HOME MEET!!!

Details regarding the Saturday Home Dual Meet vs.Upper County:

  • The meet is held at our Poplar Run Lap Pool.
  • The Meet’s THEME is Patriotic USA! In honor of July 4th, show off your patriotic spirit with RED, WHITE, & BLUE!
  • WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS!!! SIGN UP VIA SWIMTOPIA!!!
  • Swimmers & Parent Volunteers MUST be there NO LATER THAN 7:30am.

Important Note to Parents: Please help us share this important message that ALL of our swimmers are integral to the team, regardless of whether they are on the lineups for this weekend, next weekend and Divisionals. While we do our best to include as many swimmers as possible in meets throughout the season, there will be times where we do not utilize every available swimmer in a meet. Some of our age groups have significantly more swimmers than others, and that can lead to disappointed swimmers. To learn more about the meet lineup process, please check out the Meets Overview from the Handbook or the FAQ.

Dates to Remember:

  • Friday, July 4th = Our Team Fundraiser at the Pool
  • Saturday, July 5th = Home Meet vs. Upper County
    • This Swim Meet’s Theme is Patriotic USA in honor of July 4th!
    • Be at our Lap Pool NO LATER THAN 7:30am.
  • Tuesday, July 8th = Only Morning Practice / NO AFTERNOON PRACTICE!
    • Afternoon Practice will NOT be held due to the MCSL Coaches Long Course meet in Rockville. See above announcement & congratulations!
  • Wednesday, July 9th = B Meet at Strathmore Bel Pre
    • Make sure to RSVP via Swimtopia!!!
  • Saturday, July 12th = Last Dual Meet at Middlebridge
    • The theme for this meet will be Throwback to the Past!
  • Saturday, July 19th = Division O Championships & Banquet
    • Divisional Championships will be held at our Lap Pool early in the morning- Meet at Pool NO LATER THAN 6:30AM!
    • Banquet - see below about RSVP and purchasing your tickets!
  • Saturday, July 26th = All Star Relays
    • If your Penguin swam with one of our winning relays, check your email with additional details regarding ALL STAR RELAYS, held in Rockville.
  • Sunday, July 27th = All Star Individuals
    • We will be talking to those parents of our All Star Penguins closer to this date!

Banquet will be held on Saturday, July 19th at 5pm at the Poplar Run Clubhouse

Join us to celebrate the end of the season and all of its highlights! The evening will start with the Team Award Ceremony, followed by dinner from our wonderful sponsor, Marathon Deli, and then of course, fun in the pool!

Adults tickets are $10 and Child (17 & under) tickets are $7.
