Yesterday was a huge win versus Upper County and on Wednesday we had a fun Lollipop Little Blues Meet! This week coming up, we have the Coaches Long Course Meet on Tuesday, B Meet at Strathmore Bel Pre on Wednesday and on Saturday, our LAST DUAL MEET OF THE 2025 SEASON! Looking ahead, the following week will be the last week of full team practice before our HUGE Divisional Championship Meet on Saturday July 19th at our very own Lap Pool! Following our Championship Meet, we will have our End of Season Banquet - so make sure you have already RSVP’d and bought your Banquet Tickets!!!

Congratulations to Izzy M. & Cata D. for earning qualifying times for the Coaches Invitational Long Course! This meet takes place on Tuesday, July 8th for those swimmers who have the top 8 fastest times for each swim meet event in the entire Montgomery County Swim League. Swimmers will compete at the Rockville Swim & Fitness Center on a 50 meter long course. Poplar Run Penguin Afternoon practice will NOT be held on Tuesday, July 8th due to this meet. This USA Sectioned Meet starts at 6pm in Rockville - if you are available, please COME CHEER ON OUR PENGUINS!

Reminders about Wednesday’s B Meet @ Strathmore Bel Pre:

• Strathmore Bel Pre Pool Address: 13920 Bethpage Lane, Silver Spring MD 20906.
• Swimmers and families, please arrive at Strathmore Bel Pre pool NO LATER THAN 5PM. Our warm-Ups are at 5:20pm.
• Parents - Please sign up to volunteer at this Wednesday’s B Meet vs. Strathmore Bel Pre via Swimtopia. We appreciate all you do and know that without our amazing parent volunteers, swim meets would not happen.
• Parking is available in their pool parking lot. Parking is available in the pool parking lot and on Bethpage Lane. The pool lot should have plenty of room, but if overflow is needed, please only park on the pool side of the street.
• The Penguin team area will be the grassy area at the bottom of the ramp to the pool. Make sure you bring your chairs and own shade - canopies/tents are perfect!
• Parents - please help us with keeping all swimmers out of the wading pool & the pirate ship playground area during the meet. These spaces are off limits!!!
• Please help us respect the following host team rule: Swimmers must remain in their designated team area except for restroom breaks and trips to concessions. Swimmers are not allowed to congregate on the deck during the meet. They should report to the clerk of course that is on the side of the pool when it is time to report for their event. We will then have them move from there to the area behind the starting line.
• Strathmore Bel Pre will have food for sale during the meet - pizza, hot dogs, as well as drinks and snacks.
• The meet line-up and entries will be shared via Swimtopia - please check what your swimmer is swimming. Please note that there are no relays scheduled during this meet and we WILL HAVE A LITTLE BLUE kickboard race at the beginning of the meet. Strathmore Bel Pre is part of the Prince-Month Swim League, so we will be swimming with their order of events - LINK TO ORDER OF EVENTS
• Keep an eye and ear out for the weather - storms are forecasted all week in the evenings! Please be flexible and aware - we will update as soon as we know the weather!

This upcoming Saturday, we have our LAST dual meet of the Season at Middlebridge.

Coaches are working on the Line-Ups for the meet so please make sure you have RSVP’d today!!! This meet will be our last Dual Meet of the 2025 Summer Season! We need all our swimmers to be hydrated, rested, and ready to swim their best in this meet!

Details regarding the Saturday's LAST Dual Meet vs. Middlebridge:

• The meet is held at Middlebridge Community Pool, 2041 Hickory Hill Lane, Silver Spring, MD.
• The Meet’s THEME is Throwback to the Past! Come dress up representing another decade in history!
• WE NEED PARENT VOLUNTEERS!!! SIGN UP VIA SWIMTOPIA!!!
• VERY IMPORTANT - Swimmers & Parent Volunteers MUST be there by 7:45am!

Important Note to Parents: Please help us share this important message that ALL of our swimmers are integral to the team, regardless of whether they are on the lineups for this weekend, next weekend and Divisionals. While we do our best to include as many swimmers as possible in meets throughout the season, there will be times where we do not utilize every available swimmer in a meet. Some of our age groups have significantly more swimmers than others, and that can lead to disappointed swimmers. To learn more about the meet lineup process, please check out the Meets Overview from the Handbook or the FAQ.

  • Afternoon Practice will NOT be held due to the MCSL Coaches Long Course meet in Rockville. See above announcement & congratulations!

• Saturday, July 12th = Last Dual Meet at Middlebridge
  • The theme for this meet will be Throwback to the Past!
• Saturday, July 19th = Division O Championships & Banquet
  • Divisional Championships will be held at our Lap Pool early in the morning- Meet at Pool NO LATER THAN 6:30AM!

• Saturday, July 26th = All Star Relays
  • If your Penguin swam with one of our winning relays, check your email with additional details regarding ALL STAR RELAYS, held in Rockville.
• Sunday, July 27th = All Star Individuals
  • We will be talking to those parents of our All Star Penguins closer to this date!
