Great Time Trials & Look Ahead to Week 3
Hello Penguin Families,
Our Time Trials was such an amazing first event of our season! Big thank you to all our volunteer parents who helped make Time Trials such a success!
Attached you will find the newest edition of the Penguin Post. Please plan to attend as many of your assigned practice groups as possible this week. The coaches are eager to get to work and we have our first Dual A Meet at home vs. Diamond Farm on Saturday! PLEASE READ THIS EMAIL IN IT’S ENTIRETY AS IT HAS MUCH INFORMATION!
As we continue this year’s swim season with week 3, below are a few reminders and updates for our Penguin families.
- Don’t forget to RSVP if your swimmer will be swimming via Swimtopia for this Saturday’s Home A Meet before 6pm on Tuesday!
- Ensure your swimmer brings their swim cap, goggles, water bottle, and kick board if they have one to every practice.
- Your swimmer should use the bathroom BEFORE practice starts!
- Remind your swimmer to listen to the coaches and pay attention during practices.
- If your swimmer has to attend a practice that is outside of their assigned Penguin Practice Group (see here for by-name list - updated TODAY 6/6), please understand the expectation management. If you are going to an earlier practice, that practice has been planned by our Coaches to be more advanced & will be more difficult for your swimmer. If your swimmer attends a later practice, the coaches have planned a less strenuous practice than the one your swimmer is assigned and will not be as beneficial. Please understand that these are the practice expectations and that we are highly encouraging our Penguins to attend the practice that the Coaches have assigned your Penguin.
- Little Blues will have practices Monday through Thursday this week - Next Week, on Wednesday, June 17th, we will be hosting our 1st B Meet vs. Norbeck Grove. We want to invite our Little Blues who are comfortable and willing to participate in a Kickboard Race from one end of the lap pool to the other during our Halftime Event. More details to come next week!
- The last Stroke & Turn clinic will be online June 10th at 7pm. Registration and more information is available here. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions.
All things Friday Pep Rallies:
We are excited to bring back our Friday Pep Rallies this season! These gatherings are a fun way for our swimmers to connect, fuel up, and build team spirit before Saturday meets.
Our Friday Pep Rallies will take place on the following Fridays:
Each rally will include a team meal and time for the swimmers to connect with their teammates and coaches.
Estimated attendance each week is about 90–100 people (swimmers and families), so we will organize food contributions to ensure we have enough for everyone while keeping it manageable for families.
How Pep Rallies Work:
Each week we will have approximately 10 families helping with food and drinks. Our hope is that if each family volunteers for just one week during the season, the contribution remains manageable and no one family carries a large burden.
One of the 10 volunteer families each week will also serve as the Pep Rally Coordinator for that week while still contributing their assigned food/drink item.
The Pep Rally Coordinator will:
- Help communicate with the volunteer families for that week
- Confirm everyone knows what they are bringing
- Help ensure items arrive on time
- Help coordinate setup and cleanup support
- Serve as the point person for any questions that week
Food contribution examples include:
- Pasta trays
- Pulled pork or grilled chicken
- Rice bowls or taco fillings
- Fruit trays or salads
- Garlic bread or chips
- Desserts
- Water and sports drinks
We will provide the weekly planning guide to each coordinator so they know exactly what is needed for that specific theme/week.
